Summary
ScoutTrax tracks the full merit badge lifecycle — from initiating a Blue Card through partial completion to final recording. Leaders see a unit-wide overview of badge progress. Scouts see their personal badge list with Eagle-required status and counselor details. The system automatically calculates Eagle Scout merit badge readiness including alternative group credits.
Highlights
- Full lifecycle tracking — Six statuses follow each badge: Not Started, Blue Card (initiated), In Progress, Partial, Completed, and Recorded.
- Eagle-required tracking — Badges are flagged as Eagle-required with a running count of earned versus the 13 needed.
- Alternative group credits — Tracks alternative merit badge groups where scouts can substitute one badge for another toward Eagle.
- Unit-wide overview — Leaders see which badges each scout is working on across the whole unit.
- Requirement-level detail — Drill into any badge to see individual requirement completion status.
- Import support — Bulk import merit badge progress from Troopmaster or other systems with duplicate detection by badge name.
How It Works
Leaders initiate a merit badge for a scout from the badge catalog, recording the counselor name and start date. As the scout completes requirements, leaders or counselors update requirement status. The merit badge tracker shows all badges with filters for Eagle-required, elective, and in-progress. The Eagle readiness section tallies required and elective badges earned, badges still needed, and alternative group substitutions. When a badge is complete, mark it as Recorded to finalize it in the scout's advancement record.
