What parents and guardians can see

Parents and guardians always have access to their own children in ScoutTrax — no registration required — but not to the wider roster.

Your own children, always

If you're a parent or guardian, you can always see and manage your own children in ScoutTrax. This never depends on your BSA registration. You can view their advancement, handle their event sign-ups and payments, and keep their information up to date from day one.

The wider roster is different

Seeing other families — the full unit roster and the complete list of who's attending an event — is limited to registered members of the unit. If you're not a registered, background-checked volunteer, you'll see your own children but not the wider roster. This keeps other families' contact details and youth information with the people Scouting America has already vetted. See roster-access-and-registration for the details.

At events

The same rule applies to event attendee lists:

  • A registered member sees everyone who's signed up.
  • An unregistered parent sees their own children's sign-ups. The overall headcount (how many are going) is still visible to everyone.

If you volunteer

Many parents also serve as registered leaders. If that's you and you'd like the full roster view, your unit's Key 3 can record your BSA Member ID and Safeguarding Youth Training date — see safeguarding-youth-training. Once that's on file, you'll see the wider roster in addition to your own family.
